Why are Fish good starting pets?
One reason fish are a good starting pet is fish are in a tank.Also it could teach kids a little bit of responsibility for feeding the fish(s) and cleaning the tank regularly.
If your kid likes to take care of things a dog could be a good idea for a kid around 5 or even maybe 3.
Most kids have a hard problem making friends so if you were to buy an animal like a hamster or a dog this could show them how to take care of them and that if someone wants to be your friend you have to be nice because no one likes being friends with a bully.

Hamsters are a good starting because like fish they are also in a cage and need to be fed regualarly. Also if your child is a little bit older (around the age 8-10) your child could try and hold the hamster.This could help show how to be gentle with fragile things.

Dogs are good starting pets because even though they dont normally stay in a cage they still need to have there water and food bowl full all the time. ALso dogs are a good way to show your child how to take care of a larger animal.Another reason is a dog is good for your childs mental heath.A dog helps your child feel loved the more you care for it.
